Im up to making my third block of this quilt and it is such a joy to make. Each block is so diverse, you are doing different things all the time. I love things with dimension which is why I love Melissas work so much. Here is the first block I made, I am making two quilts in different colours so you can see the colour interpretations.

A long overdue blog post

Now that the silly season is over, where on earth did those couple of months go. Despite the heat and the busy season, I have managed to do some sewing. I made a few things for Christmas gifts, I am really enjoying printing on fabric and making them into small bowl fillers and cushions, they look really nice when done. I also finished off a Union Jack Quilt, need to make a nice cushion to match now, I love the Moda Etchings range, it is lovely. I made my postcard stitchery into a cushion, I love this stitchery and really need to make some more as it has turned out lovely. Finally I have started a new project, I am making One Day In May Creations, BOM of Thankful quilt, I am making two at once and have just finished Block 1 and love it already. Hope everyone had an enjoyable Christmas and best wishes for 2012.

I picked up a jelly roll of modas new fabric, Etchings, thought about it for a week of what I really wanted to make, Im really into Union Jacks at the moment so I have made up these blocks this arvo, tonite Ill think about what Ill do between them to make them into a quilt for my lounge room. Once again I must sing the praises to the humble glue stick, so much better than pins when sewing something like these strips, holds them in place perfectly. Thankyou Bostik....lol

Finished off this table runner, the design is a One Day in May but I wasnt clever enough to trapunto it like Melissa Grant so I stitched it instead, but perfect for the coffee table

One Day in May Creations, Peony Cushion was in a recent issue of Homespun magazine. Instead of making a cushion I thought it would make a nice runner for the blanket box in my bedroom. I love it!! Almost finished another Christmas runner too, backing and binding to go. (my least favourite parts...lol)

I actually sewed today, it has been a while I must admit. I made this Amy Butler skirt from French General fabric and I love how it turned out...and NO my waist is not that small, its an Aline skirt but Ive pegged the back for the photo. I also finished the crazy quilting on 6 quilt blocks from a BOM I started 2 years ago, the idea of a BOM is to make as you go...Not me, I let them sit them and then do them after a couple of years...lol. Thats how the candlewick one was born. I also spent a nice day painting some stuffed dolls I had, been awhile since I made a doll - well I havent really made doll, dolls today, but alot of other things, including a couple of crows and a few chickens - Ill share some pics when Im done. Hope you all had a good weekend xx

I have finally gotten around to finishing off some patterns I started almost 2 years ago. I have actually had some time on my hands. I have listed a free pattern and two for sale. My Goth Girls, do not have to be done as Goths, they could be stained rather than painted in white, and then their clothes made from fabrics of your choice. I designed these two for my daughter and I love how they turned out. Hopefully Ill be able to now devote more time into drafting patterns for my other creations now that I have been motivated...Hope you like them xx

Busy sewing

I have been busy sewing for past couple of weeks, very unusual for me unless I am on holidays. I have been lucky enough to join The Chocolate Crow Trader and will start for the new edition on the 7th April so that has been very motivational. I also made this hot air balloon for my Americana display I have at home. It was a lot of work but certainly worth it in the end, it is a pattern from Prim and Proper Folks

I finally dragged myself in to do some sewing. I am in a Alice in Wonderland swap in one of my groups so I have made the queen of hearts and alice, I am hoping to add the white rabbit this weekend. I am also in a birthday swap, as I get side tracked with work, I thought I would whip up a few of the parcles in advance so I just have to mail them when the time comes. The birthday dolly turned out so cute, I still need to put a candle in her cake (its been so hot I didnt want it to melt...lol) and I love the koalas, I made those for all my overseas friends. I couldnt find any nice aussie fabric so I used tea towels and the clothes turned out pretty well I think
